I heard a quote the other day: If things aren’t good, God isn’t done.
This is really encouraging right now in my life, and I hope it speaks to your life as well. Whatever it is that is weighing you down or just not going your way, please don’t lose heart because Romans 8:28 says,
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
I’ll be honest, I thought my senior year was going to be filled with fun times and carefree nights with amazing friends, but all mine has been filled with so far is homework and not enough sleep. I have a tendency to stress myself out over the work more than I should, so that probably makes it worse. I feel completely worn-out at the moment, but it’s okay because I know that this is just a season in my life, and I know that God will bring about beauty from all the labor.
In these three and a half weeks of school, I’ve already learned something: Art is my favorite class (and where I drew the picture to the left), because it let’s me have a creative outlet, away from the typical academic stress. I’ve found that when I allow time for things like this, I do feel good. And I’ve found that when I put God before all the stress of school, he sends a heavenly peace. I spend time in his Word every morning before I go to school, and I have noticed how much more relaxed my mornings are compared to those who are trying to cram in their homework and rush out the door. If your life feels like a chaotic mess right now, just stop and spend some time with our Father before you head out the door. It’ll make you feel so much better than trying to get that task done that you didn’t want to do in the first place.
I have to go do homework, so I’m keeping the post short this week, but I just want to challenge you to look around you this week at the start of the changing of seasons and soak in all God’s beauty. Stop for a minute and really appreciate it. Fall is my favorite, so I’m really looking forward to the leaves starting to change really soon, but we need to appreciate the now, as well. Just remember that God will make everything beautiful in his perfect heavenly timing. Will you pray with me?
As we get busier, sometimes we start to slip away in our relationship with you. Please don’t let that happen. Please draw us close to you and never let us go. Please help us to see beauty right here and right now. And if things just don’t feel good in our lives right now, please comfort us with your heavenly peace that you do work all things out for good. Help us to trust in that truth today and everyday. We love you so much and we thank you for everything you have provided. In your name we pray, Amen.
